Usher Duties at 8:00
(Since visitors at 8:00 are infrequent, 1 Usher and 1 Greeter are sufficient for this service. However, when the occasional visitor shows up, special attention needs to be given to them.) Greeters and Ushers should arrive no later than 7:45.
(Revised February 2005)
- Stand inside the church somewhere between the doors and the middle isle.
- Have the bulletins with you.
- As people come in greet them and give them a bulletin.
- If they are visitors, (1) give them a bulletin; (2) ask them if they are familiar with Episcopal worship. If they are, (3) take them to a seat next to a member and show them where the prayer book is located. If they are not, (4) take them to a seat next to a member, and ask the member to assist them with following the prayer book.
- Stay at the back wall during the service, at least until the offertory, to watch for latecomers.
- At the offertory, come forward with the greeter to get the alms basins. Don't forget the blue attendance count!
- At the end of the service stand near the back door with the Ch'angel Box and "encourage" contributions.
- Following the service get with the VPOD and take the collection to the sacristy, count and record the cash, put it in a bank bag and hand it to the VPOD.
- If there were visitors at the service look for them in the parish hall, visit with them and try to get phone number or address.
